Memoir of an intern doctor…..day 58

Medical legal issues are becoming a thing in this country. I don’t know whether to attribute it to patients getting to know their rights or to the increasing rates of unemployment among lawyers….no offense lawyers, Doctors are unemployed too.

So today, I witnessed an interesting senario. Lawyer X heard of a story about a certain birth process that happened here. And he came to the hospital and looked for this baby and mother and decided to make a case out of it. He had no evidence of his claims, so this lawyer went ahead to steal a medical file of this baby and actually took pictures of it before coming to make his complaint. 5 days later .

Baby is fine, due for discharge tomorrow. mother is fine too. Actually the father to this baby has no problem at all. From the way this lawyer talks and builds emotions, you might think the lawyer is the father to this child.

Well, we gave them 3 hours to go and come back for an explanation. We prepared ourselves very well, and as I speak, the lawyer might be the one sued. For many many reasons including stealing hospital property.😂

Well, I had my lessons from this. There’s always someone watching, ready to spot your mistake. And it doesn’t matter whether you saved this life or not, they’ll make sure they milk the last coins out of your pocket.
