The value of land
I’ll spare you the finer details of the equivalent of a plot, hectare, acre, mile, in terms of measurements.
I have a friend who says land is priceless. He believes land shouldn’t be sold or bought but should be owned by government and leased out to people according to need. This actually takes me back to the stories grandpa told me tears back. He’s alive, 95 years this December. He said during his early years when he was a still a young man in his twenties,( Grandpa was a teacher) land was just acquired. More like discovering and then going to the local chairperson and registering your land in terms of demarcations. Simply that, and you became a land owner for life. Miles of land he got back in the days, he still got some, gave some to the church, and lost a huge chunk of it during Amin’s regime where some leaders grabbed land from the people.
Most of the things I know about the value of land, DAD taught me. Land, regardless of it’s size, it’s value grows everyday. Every single day. Ask people who are into the buying and selling of land business. You will be shocked by how much value land can gain even in one day depending on the buyer and the purpose intended for this land.
Some of the things that make the value of land grow include location. If a plot of land costs 20 million, and good new structures get constructed in the same area, even if this land is bare, it’s value could double or even tripple in as quick as 2 months depending on how fast this place grows. The other factors which could greatly improved the value of land include the property on that piece of land. Other factors include the closeness to the town center, availability of water , electricity, main road etc.
There is always a temptation to sell the land the closest any deal pops up. This deal should be worth a fortune for you to even buy more deal. That should be the biggest bargain you can have with yourself to sell this land. Many times we think that the only thing that makes money are the everyday businesses where we actively exchange cash. These businesses are good, but when we make profits, let’s buy some land.
In the coming future , when our population keeps growing as rapid as it’s growing today, we will need land where to settle. We will need to set up farms, factories, plantations and gardens. We will need land! The land owners will make a great harvest and it will all yield to a good financial yield .
BUY SOME LAND EVERY CHANCE YOU GET.
I would have ended with tips on protection of land ..which seems like a big subject too. Maybe I’ll talk about it in my next blog.
