Memoir of a medical intern…..Day 14
I performed my first cesarean section today…..let me rewind abit
As a student, the only time we got a chance to scrub in for an operation in theatre, we always had to be on the other end of the operating table. The Assistant’s end…….Always! . I have lost count of the number of times I have assisted on table.. Maybe 300 maybe 500? I don’t know.
But today, I held the scalpel, I made the first incision, and the rest followed. Delivered a live baby boy. Both mother and baby in perfect shape. Procedure took exactly 1 hour. It felt good, very good . I can’t explain the feeling. But one thing I know is that I kept smiling under my face mask. Like this 😊😊😊. Was a good day.
It feels good being at the right side of the operating table. ~Violah Nahurira 😄

And now you’ve lost count of the numbers of c-sections you’ve done, right? 😊😊😊
I moved to medicine in April. I honestly didn’t count, but it was way above 75
