DEFINE YOURSELF

“Tell me about yourself” is believed to be the hardest question there is.  I have had to answer this question several times for job interviews, and on dates. It’s always different Everytime because the answer has to be tailored to the situation, but it’s certainly always difficult to decide on how to go about it.

To the possible employer before you, you have to sell yourself as much as possible,  talk about everything you have done before that resonates with your employer’s job as precisely as possible. In brief, you have to Define what significant role you play in society or are likey to play in the company you are to work for.

Define yourself. These words were told to me by a young internal medicine physician while I told him about my confusion as regards what career path to take. I’m still not decided, but I ponder on these 2 words every day that goes by.

Defining oneself simply means standing out, to represent yourself in a manner that enables your talents spelt out. Recently, Mr.Museveni the president of the republic of Uganda released a new list for Permanent Secretaries.  I’m always eager to find out who the new recruits are. I’m always curious to know what makes them unique, what sets them aside from all the order 47 million Ugandans. This time, I picked out some new faces and decided to read briefly about what they have done in society, what they have achieved, schools they went to, how many and what degrees they have attained, and in doing that , the reasons why they had been appointed to these positions came to light. They are unique, they have done a great job defining themselves. Some even at the youngest age. 

Think of all the people this world “worships” , they have done a good job identifying themselves. Some we were born long after they were dead and gone, but the legacy they left still lives on. In all aspects of life. Whether religion, family, education, politics, leadership e.t.c

When you define yourself, it becomes easy for your potential market to identify you. And when they do, everything else that you ever hoped for comes to light, it comes to life.
