BRANDING
A 20litre jerrycan of tap water costs about 200 ugandan shillings, and we would strike if the cost rose by even just 50Ugx. A 500ml bottle of mineral water costs about 1000 Ugx in a regular kiosk. You get the point already…don’t you? Okay, let’s change the scenario
This same 500ml bottle of mineral water costs about 5000Ugx at a 3 Star hotel, and we go ahead and pay without Question. This is Phase 2 of branding the same product but in a different location. If mama Gundi at her kiosk increased the fee by even just 100shs, you will curse her, threaten to make her lose all her customers, and tell all your friends and relatives about it.
If you found two packed products on the shelves of a supermarket, one with a tag of the manufacturing company, and the other without, you will most definitely buy the branded product. Even if the other product were given to you for free.
You get the importance of what I’m saying..right? Now let’s talk about Personal branding.
David Mc Nally and Karl Speak in their book Be your Brand wrote your brand is a perception or emotion maintained by somebody other than you, that describes the total experience of having a relationship with you.
From this, we realise that personal branding is more of external control than internal control. Its how your personality impacts other people or how your product makes the people using it feel.
Packaging yourself steadily in everything you do helps to build your brand. Personal branding helps to add value to yourself, and to whatever you produce. Your speech, your advice, your company name, your children, your family. Personal branding also helps to create and build trust, it helps to boost your career. Talk about politics
Personal branding in a way is a promise. A promise to yourself to never fall back to anything that’s less of a threshold to your greatness. Its also a promise to the world, to continuously deliver and provide that what you’re serving the universe with your greatness.
Personal branding is the hope that those who look up to you will forever hold onto.
Brand yourself, promote yourself.
